A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY “A little goes a long way.” That is an expression that rings true with a lot of things but definitely fits The Transportation Club of Buffalo. Whether it is with time, effort, or financial contributions everybody’s generosity has significantly helped others in this community. This year we were fortunate enough to give extra money in the form of additional scholarships, but also we were able to give approximately $2000.00 in charitable donations around Christmas time. Each director was given the opportunity to choose a worthy cause and have a donation made. The organizations that were chosen were Gateway-Longview (under-priviledged children), Friends of the Night, S.A.B.A.H., Holy Angles Outreach (food bank program), C.A.T.V.(which is children's advocacy group) and the Elk’s Club –Trenchclub (scholarship). The emphasis was to help families in need as well as making sure children had toys and food around the holidays. For me, my first full year on the board of directors has been a rewarding one. I only had to give a little bit of my time to help plan events and it allowed me to do something for somebody else. I have always been very fortunate and never had to worry about the things that the kids from Gateway-Longview are forced to deal with on a daily basis. The effort that I saw put into the golf outings and the annual dinner by the directors was outstanding. For our sponsors and members it was money in the form of dues and sponsorship fees that allowed our events to be successful. With everybody giving a little we have had a very successful year and I look forward to 2007. Bob Grimm Cope Bestway Express
GOLF OUTINGS WELL ATTENDED - This year we went back to 2 Golf Outings.
The first one was held at Arrowhead Golf Course, June, 2006. The weather was great (a little on the hot side, but still great) There were 74 people in attendance. Bill Crosby - Elre Industries, Tom Schawallie - Old Dominion Freight, Steve Dan - the RAM Director and Rodney Roberts - Point did a fantastic job pulling things together. The food was wonderful and a bunch of prizes got taken home.
The Second Outing; Originally scheduled for October 2006 at Batavia Country Club, 42 people enjoyed a super day of golf followed by a Prime Rib dinner & prizes. again thanks goes to Bill Crosby - Elre Industries, Tom Schawallie - Old Dominion Freight, Steve Dan - the RAM Director and Rodney Roberts - Point for running a great event.

NEWS
FROM THE ALLEY’S By Steve Dan The
Transportation Club Bowling League is now halfway through it’s season. Due to the absence of enough Transportation Club members to form the necessary teams, Transit Lanes merged our teams with another league so that we could complete our season. Hopefully
we will be able to continue in 2007-2008 season.
As
of week 16 FMC Team headed by Guy DeMarie was in second place fighting for the first position.
The Four Stars a team led by Walt Nowicki and the
Old Kids consisting of Phil Garvey, Roger Adams, Steve Dan and two part timers Rick Monterville and Randy Blenski were near the bottom rung of the ladder. In
fact the Old Kids have no place to go but up.
Some of week 16 highlights are as follows:
Mike Ludwa – 728 handicap series
65 pins over average
Terry Oshei – Past President of the club, most improved Team
FMC ranked second in high game with handicap,
bowling 991 As
previously mentioned, Transportation members are still needed to form teams so
we can form a league completely with Transportation Club members. The
other alternative would be a mixed couples league: with twice a month bowling
schedule. Members could then put
together their own teams, with wives, boy friends or girl friends.
It should be a fun night out. If
this activity is of interest, please let the Board of Directors know.
We will follow through and get back to each individual, with dates, times
and cost. The
Club need members to get involved in our various planned activities and also in
Club management. “Don’t
be sedate, participate.”
